2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters and Signal Squadron (2 CMBG HQ & Sig Sqn) is a Regular Force Army unit of the Canadian Forces garrisoned at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Petawawa. The Special Service Force Headquarters and Signal Squadron (SSF HQ & Sig Sqn) was redesignated 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters and Signal Squadron on 1 June 1995[1], coincident with the name change of its parent formation.

Tragedy struck 1 June 1999 when MCpl Donald LaSante was killed in an accident during a training exercise when, at an arena parking lot in Beachburg, Ontario, soldiers were in the process of setting up some equipment for a command post when an antenna on one of the vehicles touched live hydro wires.

During the War in Afghanistan, two members of the unit lost their lives: Cpl Matthew Jonathan McCully was killed by an improvised explosive device while he was on a joint Afghan-Canadian foot patrol on 25 May 2007 and Cpl Kenneth Chad O’Quinn who was killed by a roadside bomb that exploded near his armoured vehicle on 3 March 2009.
