5e Escadron des Transmissions du Canada (5e ET du C) was authorized at Valcartier Quebec as a redesignation of 6 Signal Squadron effective 15 August 1968.[1] The change was made along with the creation of 5e Groupement de Combat and 5e ET du C was made the group's Signals unit.

In 1972 the unit was amalgamated with the headquarters unit of 5e Groupement de Combat to form Quartier Général et Escadron des transmissions du 5e Groupement de Combat (QG ET 5e G de C)[2].
