CAP INSIGNIA PROVENANCE - MAJOR-GENERAL E.G. WEEKS

The pictured Cap Insignia once belonged to and was worn by Major-General E.G. (Bunny) Weeks CB CBE MC MM CD. The item came into the possession of LCol (Ret'd) John Dicker in 1967. He describes the story:

While at the RCSofS in 1967, Lt John Dicker and 2Lt Al Wiegel were living in the Officers’ Quarters, fondly known as "The Royal York", which was located across the street from the RCSofS Officers’ Mess.
In the fall of 1967, the Signals Association held their Association Annual Meeting at the School. One of the attendees that year was Maj-Gen (Ret’d) E.G. Weeks. There were many senior Signal Officers attending the conference, both serving and retired. The most senior of these officers rated an “aide” during his stay. In Maj-Gen Weeks’ case, 2Lt Wiegel was honoured to be selected.
As a gesture of his appreciation for Al’s good work, at the end of the conference Maj-Gen Weeks presented Al with a small bag of his old uniform accoutrements. Knowing how interested I was in such things, Al dumped-out the contents of the bag on my bed and said: "help yourself". I did, and that’s how I came to possess the pictured cap insignia.
I kept the insignia ever since that time and recently had the idea that it might best go to LCol (Ret’d) Joe Costello, the Webmaster and owner of the excellent website RCSigs.ca, to be posted on the website and ultimately disposed of as he saw fit, being a collector of RCCS memorabilia. So, the insignia was duly handed-over to Joe on 2 Jun 2017 at the Retired Officers’ Annual Dinner at the Vimy Officers’ Mess.

And now you know the story of Maj-Gen Weeks’ cap insignia!
