Photo of a war time signal office taken 24 Oct 1940 of a small Canadian signals office at Cobham, Surrey, England.

The name of the switchboard operator is not known. The writer is W.W. Dyke (later Sgt).

Both men were originally members of 1 Independent Signal Squadron, Hamilton and were mobilised at the start of the war. After many months waiting and training they eventually were part of the operations in Sicily and Italy.

The sign in the upper left reads "If You Must Use This Office. BE QUIET". Switchboard equipment are 2 x Switchboard UC 10.
